Long Beach resident urges immediate leaf removal, citing drainage and safety hazards

Melanie Davis, a Long Beach resident of 2925 Lothair Way, urged the town to reconsider its leaf-removal plans, saying heavy accumulations near sidewalks and streets create drainage hazards and increase the risk of slips and ice.
"There are drainage hazards, and there are also just slipping and ice and one thing or another," Davis said during the council's public-comment period, and asked that the council "reconsider where we stand on this issue and ASAP before further snow comes in" with either a two-day cleanup or a mechanism for residents to present invoices to the town for reimbursement.
Council members acknowledged the concern and noted follow-up with public works and the police chief. The topic was recorded as public comment; no formal council action or ordinance on leaf removal was proposed during the meeting.
