“My grandson would benefit tremendously,” McGlory said, urging the district to consider certified reading specialists with expertise in special education and the Wilson methodology for students who need structured, phonics-based instruction. He also questioned the effectiveness of a computer-based reading program used at the middle school for some autistic students and urged greater teacher-led, individualized approaches.
