Resident tells Ocoee commission a child was hit; asks for patrols and education in Arden Park North

OCOEE, Fla. — During public comment at the Jan. 6 meeting of the Ocoee City Commission, resident Mr. Rance urged officials to step up patrols and education after a child was struck in his Arden Park North neighborhood.
"We had a child that was hit, sadly, in the neighborhood there," Rance said, describing repeated speeding and a vehicle collision with a crane on a nearby roadway. He said he met with the chief and other officers to "look at the agreement that we have in the neighborhood and see what we need to do to enhance some patrol and educate the community."
Rance introduced himself as a lay pastor at First Baptist Orlando, vice president of Arden Park North HOA and a candidate for Congress in the 9th District. The mayor thanked him for raising the concern and for speaking with officers ahead of the meeting.
The comment prompted no immediate formal direction recorded on the Jan. 6 agenda; commissioners discussed traffic-calming elsewhere on the agenda and staff said they would follow up with warrant analysis and requests for specific locations.
