District administrators briefed the board on the Standard Response Protocol and the district's use of CrisisGo and ALICE procedures.
Staff explained the differences among the response levels used in schools: a "hold" keeps school operations largely normal but isolates a small area; "secure" keeps students safe from an outside threat; "lockdown" invokes ALICE responses and more severe protective steps; "evacuate" and "shelter" are used for building evacuation or severe weather. "When you're in a lockdown, that kicks in the ALICE protocol," Speaker 10 said.
Speaker 9 (Micah) reported the district completed a second round of drills with students at the high school and middle school so students could become familiar with alert sounds and screens. Micah said CrisisGo is an internal communication tool but noted some principals send parent communications following a hold. Administration said monthly newsletters will include a dedicated section on the protocol so families can better understand terminology.
Board members asked how communications are triggered and which incidents warrant parent notification; staff said holds currently trigger parent communication and they plan to standardize language in newsletters and other outreach.
