Council approves 2026 board appointments and opioid settlement committee slate

Kevin Van Horn presented a slate of recommended 2026 board appointments and council member assignments including Michael Bertrand for the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Justin Plunkett for the Lebanon Public Library Board, named members for the Peter Boah board, Discover Boone assignments and several economic development and solid waste board slots. The council moved, seconded and approved the slate by voice vote.
The council also considered a proposed opioid settlement committee membership list that included a county commissioner appointee, representatives or appointees from community corrections, probation, the auditor's office, mental health organizations and specialty courts, and the sheriff or a sheriff's appointee. The slate was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote with no public opposition recorded.
Next steps: staff will communicate appointments to the respective boards and finalize membership for the opioid settlement committee.
