Cedric Cio, who said he represents Landers and Burning Market, spoke during public comment to ask whether his family’s food‑truck could continue vending at a site near 522 Abadore Lumber. "My name is Cedric Cio of Landers and Burning Market," he said, explaining they operate for a few hours during the day.
District staff referenced the ordinance that currently prohibits vending in park locations and said the general manager or the board could authorize permits if the board chooses to develop a permit process. Staff told the vendor they could not approve vending on the spot: "we can't really address any issue you raised tonight, but we can listen and then get back to you," a staff member said.
Directors instructed staff to place the issue on the next meeting agenda. Staff committed to present options and the pros and cons of permitting—including likely insurance and indemnity requirements—so the board could decide whether to allow a limited, criteria‑based vending permit for specific vendors on district property.
Board members noted possible tensions with nearby brick‑and‑mortar businesses and concerns about setting a precedent if multiple vendors sought long‑term access, and they asked staff to include enforcement and liability considerations in the forthcoming report.
