City staff gave an update Jan. 5 on Newton Next, the City of Newton's comprehensive-plan process, saying the project team and consultant Olsen have completed a community survey, a visioning workshop and a public open house in October, and that the survey report is available on the Newton Next website.
Staff urged commissioners to participate in a planning and design charrette scheduled for Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Meridian Events Center and a public open house on Feb. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Staff said the consultant will use community input and a traffic-data-informed analysis to produce final recommendations, and that the project team expects to deliver a final recommendation by May.
Commissioners asked about the schedule and public availability; staff confirmed materials are public and that the formal recommendation is targeted for May.
