Staff said courts would be regulation size, include fencing, LED lighting and 6‑foot‑wide accessible sidewalks; they are on a waiting list for outside funding and will coordinate priorities and schedule with the school district for reserved times. A council member asked whether local coaches had been consulted; staff said the courts are designed to regulation and they will seek parks‑department and community input before proceeding.
Council also discussed the possibility of sponsorship or naming rights for individual courts and the potential to resurface existing basketball courts if funding becomes available. The project is at the concept stage and the parks department will review the options before the council considers funding or construction approval.
