She described three approvals the foundation requested: $25,000 in EITC funding toward district STEM programs (supporting applied design/laser work, RoboHounds, middle-school science initiatives and engine-repair instruction); a Volvo dual-level sponsorship that would provide $30,000 a year for five years (with $10,000 annually for stadium support and a donor-specific $100,000 for STEM); and a three-year Shippensburg University sponsorship of $5,000 per year for athletic facilities. Sue said the combined package represents roughly $190,000 in funding commitments and thanked teachers and foundation volunteers for their work securing the grants and partnerships.
Board members discussed and then voted to combine items 5e–5g and approved them as a single motion.
Board members noted the funds are not tax dollars and praised the foundation’s fundraising and relationship-building. The board’s approval allows the district to move forward on the designated STEM programming and athletics facility support tied to the sponsorships.
