Adams County commissioners elect Julie Duran Mullica chair, Kathy Henson vice chair for 2026

Newly appointed leaders posed for a photograph during a brief recess and received congratulations from colleagues.
Several commissioners praised outgoing Chair Baca for leadership through a “very eventful 2025,” saying staff and the board navigated state and federal changes with diplomacy. Commissioners said the board will focus on staff-supported priorities, federal policy clarity, and ongoing county initiatives in 2026.
The board opened the meeting with a roll call and the pledge of allegiance before taking up the reorganization votes. No public commenters spoke during the public-comment period that followed the photo break.
The appointments are procedural; the board did not attach conditions to the leadership votes. The board returned to regular business after the reorganization and moved on to consent and new-business items.
