"Madam chairman, I move that we adopt the 2026 proposed budget," said Unidentified Speaker 2 during the motion to adopt a resolution summarizing revenues and expenditures for the calendar year beginning January 2026 and ending December 2026. The motion was seconded and approved on a roll call, with Overton, Richfield and O'Hare recorded as voting "Aye." The board announced the motion passed.
Following the budget adoption, the board considered an appropriation resolution. Unidentified Speaker 3 moved to adopt resolution "2025-31," appropriating $48,695,411 to various funds and spending agencies for the county's 2026 budget year. The motion was seconded and approved on a roll call; the board recorded the motion as passing.
During the discussion, an unidentified commissioner thanked county staff for their work on the budgets. "I just wanna thank the staff, for doing such a wonderful job on your budgets and really taking a deep dive into them and helping us cut where the cuts needed to be made so that we could make sure that we still continue to help with health plans as well as being able to do the COLA increase," said Unidentified Speaker 1. The speaker also named Vicki and Lisa in appreciation for their efforts.
Commissioners agreed to postpone action on mill-levy approvals until Dec. 19 so that special districts can complete their meetings and present adopted mill levies to the county. An unidentified speaker said the intent was to give special districts "an opportunity to have their meetings and adopt their mill levies and then present them to the county commissioner."
