Lake Havasu City Council conducted a number of votes during its Jan. 13 meeting, ranging from routine business to a landmark land‑use decision.

The council approved two recommendations to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control for Series 12 restaurant licenses (Rotary Pizza and Pasta at 283 Lake Havasu Ave; Booby Falls Restaurant and Rodeo at 2100 McCulloch Blvd N), both carried 7‑0.

The council introduced Ordinance No. 26‑1377 to bring the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board code into alignment with current practice (introduction vote 7‑0). Council then debated and voted on the major general‑plan amendment and associated planned‑development rezoning for the 90‑acre parcel at 1040 McCulloch Blvd N (Pittsburgh Point). The general‑plan amendment (Resolution 26‑3889) passed 5‑2. In capital projects business, the council awarded the low bid for a new 2,300‑square‑foot water and wastewater laboratory to TR Orr, Inc. of Kingman for $1,517,282 and unanimously approved naming the building for the late Thilac (Thelak) Fernando, a long‑time city lab specialist. Council directed staff to execute the contract and proceed with construction (estimated 150 days).
