Hebron — The Town Council adopted a proclamation on Jan. 8 committing Hebron to participate fully in the Connecticut Semiquincentennial (America250 CT) commemoration. Claudia Riley read the proclamation into the record, which called for local programming, educational initiatives and community involvement leading up to and through July 4, 2026 and continuing through the end of 2026.
The proclamation referenced the state commission’s mission to promote civic, cultural and historical education, encourage tourism and historic preservation, and suggested forming a local committee and volunteer roster to coordinate events. Council and members of the local America250 committee invited residents to a kickoff event and asked for volunteer participation on committees and event planning.
Council members thanked the committee for its months of preparatory work and encouraged residents to consult the town‑center project website and the new Facebook page created for the 250th activities for event listings and volunteer opportunities.
