The Colorado Transportation Commission approved proposed planning budgets for its transportation asset management (TAM) programs on Jan. 15, setting planning targets of $390,000,000 for fiscal year 2030 and $398,000,000 for fiscal year 2031.
Darius, presenting the item, said the budgets cover 11 asset classes and are intended to allow regional staff to plan and scope programs of projects up to four years in advance. He noted the FY31 figure represents a 5.4% increase from FY29 planning levels and that final budgets will be set when the Division of Accounting and Finance presents formal budgets in the usual November–March cycle.
Commissioner Diane Barrett moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Gutierrez seconded. The commission approved the resolution by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The presentation said the planning budgets comply with Policy Directive 16 and are meant to help regions coordinate surface treatments, bridge projects and other asset work to preserve existing system condition. Commissioners praised the earlier workshops that integrated TAM considerations into the 10‑year plan discussion.
The commission's approval provides regions clearer planning targets but does not itself appropriate final expenditures; those amounts will be finalized through subsequent budget actions and division-level presentations.
The commission moved on to other agenda items following the vote.
