The Finance, Organization and Personnel Committee recommended that the city manager be authorized to negotiate and execute a new lease with Thomas Transportation for parking spots at the airport after the previous lease expired.
Airport staff said Thomas Transportation has leased parking spots at the airport for several years; the prior lease had no escalation clause. "The previous lease was $7,200 a year," an airport representative said, and the new lease will be updated to reflect fair-market value and include a 3% annual escalation to align with airport leasing policy. Committee members asked how many spaces were involved; airport staff said Thomas has 40 spaces but commonly uses about half.
The motion to authorize the manager to negotiate and execute the lease was moved, seconded and passed unanimously. The city manager will negotiate lease length, rate and escalation, then return a signed agreement if committee and council approvals proceed.
