Arvada swears in Randy Mormon, Rebecca Levinson and Michael Griffith; council re-elects Mormon as mayor pro tem 7-0

Arvada’s City Council held a swearing-in ceremony on Nov. 11, 2025, at which Randy Mormon was sworn in as the District 1 councilmember and mayor pro tem, Rebecca Levinson was sworn in for District 3, and Michael Griffith took the at-large seat.

Mayor (recorded in roll call as Mayor Simpson) administered and oversaw the oaths. Randy Mormon repeated the oath for District 1 and was congratulated. Rebecca Levinson and Michael Griffith each took the oath of office shortly afterward and were invited to take their seats on the dais.

After the oaths, the city clerk conducted an updated roll call showing the newly seated members present. Councilmember Davis moved to elect Randy Mormon as mayor pro tem; the council voted and the motion "passed 7 to 0," with the tally announced but without an individual roll-call of votes recorded in the transcript. Following the unanimous vote, Mormon took a second oath to serve specifically as mayor pro tem.

In remarks after the swearing-in, Mayor Pro Tem Randy Mormon said he will prioritize addressing homelessness, expanding multimodal transportation, creating more affordable housing, and improving climate resilience in Arvada. "We have not done enough, and we've got a lot more to do, especially with our unhoused residents," he said. Rebecca Levinson framed her approach as listening, building connections across neighborhoods and improving local pathways and streets; Michael Griffith emphasized representation and constituent engagement.

The mayor closed the meeting with a Veterans Day acknowledgement, invited attendees to a reception in the atrium and adjourned the meeting.
