Resident urges Arvada to leverage Jefferson Parkway negotiations for local improvements

Vernon said the likely concessionaire for the Jefferson Parkway is the same entity that purchased the Northwest Parkway for $1.2 billion in April 2024. He estimated the Jefferson Parkway project could cost between $750 million and $1 billion and argued Arvada should use its ownership interest in affected parcels to secure traffic improvements, protections for impacted communities and funding for infrastructure in northwest Arvada.
"This is unlike anything else the city normally does," Vernon said, urging the city to change its negotiation approach to capture community benefits from a large private investment.
Council did not take action on the comment; the item was informational from a member of the public.
