School District U-46 gives update on 2026–27 boundary transition and sixth-grade move

Deputy Superintendent Lola Mysdorovich presented the School District U-46 Board of Education with a January update on logistics for the 2026–27 boundary transition and the move of sixth grade into middle schools.
“All students have now been assigned to schools based on the approved boundaries and program placements for the 2026–27 school year,” Mysdorovich told the board, and families were notified in November. She said the district received “just under 300 residency exception requests,” and that approximately two-thirds of those requests have been approved based on available space and program capacity.
Mysdorovich described cross-department planning to coordinate classroom moves, staffing meetings held in December to align projected enrollment, and a central office review of room assignments earlier in January. She said the district is on track to issue an invitation to bid for moving vendors later in the month and plans actual classroom moves between May and August to avoid instructional disruption.
Transportation staff continue to analyze routing for efficiency, ride time and safety and are examining potential adjustments to school start and end times to support routing changes. Mysdorovich said the district will provide monthly updates; February’s will include professional learning plans and spring transition events, and March’s update will include student registration and additional routing details.
