Owner's representative: Tava site and nearby CDOT work nearly complete in Woodland Park

An owner's representative told the Woodland Park Downtown Development Authority on Jan. 16 that construction at the Tava restaurant site in Woodland Park is progressing and that Colorado Department of Transportation work at the nearby intersection is largely complete.

"We are substantially complete, with the eastbound slowdown lane," the representative said, adding crews were pouring sidewalk, that about 80% of site sidewalks were in, most pedestrian ramps had been installed and caissons for streetlights were set. The representative said topsoil and seed mix — supplied by the county — will be placed in disturbed areas and that left-turn median work is expected to start by the end of the month.

The rep described interior work as continuing: tongue-and-groove ceilings in the restaurant areas were nearly finished, the kitchen ceiling grid was in and light fixtures were being energized. "A lot of little things yet to go, but we're doing quite well over there," the representative said, and offered site walk-throughs, providing a contact phone number listed in the project update.

Board members praised the visible changes to a previously troublesome intersection, and the chair noted that city staff had toured the site and responded positively. The update did not include a completion date for the building's opening.

Why it matters: the combination of CDOT roadway improvements and on-site work is intended to improve traffic flow and pedestrian access at a busy Woodland Park intersection and to support the opening of a new local restaurant.
