Council approved Resolution No. 938, Series 2025, authorizing the city to enter a partnership agreement with the Colorado Main Street program; staff said DOLA review went well and a designation decision is expected in mid-January.
The Woodland Park City Council voted unanimously to approve Resolution No. 938, Series 2025, authorizing the city to enter into a partnership agreement to become an official Colorado Main Street community.
Kimberly, a city staff member, told the council that Woodland Park presented to the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) along with three other communities and that the presentation went well. "We will know most likely mid January if we were officially entered into that," she said, asking council to approve the resolution to complete the application process.
Tim and Andrea, representatives of the newly formed Main Street board, presented a strategic work plan for 2026 centered on three priorities: connecting local businesses to resources and DDA microgrants, partnering with the Downtown Development Authority and nearby Main Street communities to enhance aesthetics and walkability, and marketing Woodland Park as a destination. Andrea described outreach to neighboring communities with established Main Street programs to coordinate events and marketing.
Councilmember motioned to approve the resolution as read; the motion was seconded and passed on a unanimous roll-call vote. Staff said the mayor and city manager are authorized to execute the partnership agreement and will take necessary steps if DOLA confirms the designation.
