Washington County commissioners approved several intergovernmental and facility agreements on Wednesday, including memoranda enabling town participation in a historic‑property tax credit program, a truck‑restriction agreement with the state for Keedysville, and a revised memorandum for the county golf-course manager’s private-lesson business.
Planning and zoning staff presented an MOU to allow the Town of Boonsboro to participate in the county’s Historic Structures Tax Credit program by delegating permit-review authority to the county’s Historic District Commission through a recorded agreement; the town’s request followed an April 2024 county ordinance update that defined qualifying municipalities. The board approved the Boonsboro MOU by voice vote.
Staff presented an identical MOU for the Town of Sharpsburg; staff noted Sharpsburg attended the HDC workshop and the board approved that MOU as well.
Engineering staff recommended executing a memorandum of agreement with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and the county to install advance truck‑restriction signs on routes (Kaufman Farms Road and South Main Street via MD 34) in Keedysville to prevent large semitrailers from getting stuck on limited‑turning movements. The board approved the MOA.
Public Works also presented a revised MOU for the Grape Tree Golf course clarifying Ryan Crabtree’s transition from amateur to pro status and separating his county job duties from income earned as Crabtree Golf LLC; that MOU was approved.
Each item passed on unanimous voice votes.
