CDHS committee confirms appointments, names vice chair and approves minutes in short meeting

The Community Development and Human Services Committee convened Jan. 16 and handled a series of routine items, confirming mayoral and council communications and electing leadership in a brief session.
Chair Matt Westmoreland opened the meeting and the committee adopted the agenda and approved minutes from the prior meeting. Councilmember Winston nominated Councilmember Dozier to serve as vice chair; Westmoreland seconded the nomination and the committee confirmed Dozier unanimously, 5–0.
Under communications, the committee considered a mayoral appointment (26C5002) in which Mayor Andre Dickens appointed Maya Hodari to a three-year term on the Housing Commission. Hodari introduced herself and said she is “the Atlanta Housing chief real estate officer” and described her work pushing creation of affordable housing in the city. The committee voted 5–0 to confirm the appointment.
The committee also accepted and filed communication 26C5003 from Council President Marcy Karya Overstreet reappointing Councilmember Alex Wan to the Piedmont Park Conservancy for a four-year term; the committee voted to accept and file the communication unanimously.
Chair Westmoreland said he will circulate draft goals for the committee’s 2026 objectives and hopes to approve the final goals at the Jan. 27 meeting so they can guide the committee’s work for the coming year. The committee adjourned after the referrals and votes.
