Board formalizes policy committee, assigns liaisons and committee leads for 2026

At the Jan. 7 organizational meeting the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Board of Education assigned members to standing responsibilities and liaisons for 2026.
Assignments announced included: legislative liaison (Brad Chase); Cuyahoga Valley Career Center representative (Rachel Malek as regular representative); curriculum (Tish Kwiatkowski); finance and transportation (Mark Dosen); sustainability (Ava O’Meara and Brad Chase); PSO (Lisa Galek); schools foundation (Tish Kwiatkowski); co‑curricular/extracurricular (Lisa Galek and Tish Kwiatkowski); permanent improvement (Mark Dosen and Brad Chase); and safety and security (Lisa Galek and Ava O’Meara). Trustees discussed rotation rules for the CVCC seat and noted Rachel Malek remains the district’s regular representative while another district will take the extra rotating seat next year.
The board also resolved to formalize the policy committee as a board committee and appointed two members (Brad Chase and Ava O’Meara) to serve on it. Trustees said the committee will follow the two‑member structure and that existing members would continue unless changes are requested.
All committee and liaison assignments were approved by motion and roll call; each motion passed on a 4–0 vote. Trustees thanked volunteers who serve district support organizations, noting that a recent effort ensured those groups met board policy requirements.
