Summary
Deputy City Manager Andy Bohannon said an amendment to a previous Land and Water Conservation Fund grant would add about $75,000 to complete parking and connections for the Russell Park project (50/50 matching grant). Deputy City Manager Andy Bohannon briefed the committee on a proposed amendment to the city's Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant for Patricia Russell Park phase 2. He said the original grant was for $225,000 and an additional need of roughly $75,000 is being sought to offset demolition costs and enable a small parking lot and other connections to make the project complete.
Bohannon explained that the LWCF program is a 50/50 matching grant and that any additional city match must be added through the capital improvement plan (CIP) process; if the amendment is not awarded this round, the city can reapply next year. A councilor moved to authorize submission of the LWCF amendment application and the committee voted unanimously to recommend it.
The recommendation will advance to the full city council and, if the amendment is awarded, staff will return with details for CIP funding and project implementation.
