District project update: pool excavation done; major concrete pour set for Jan. 30

At the meeting a district construction presenter gave a detailed update on the new aquatic facility. Excavation for the pool was completed on Dec. 1 and crews are installing gravel, PVC and underground conduits. The presenter said the project has not encountered unexpected groundwater and shale findings align with the project’s geotechnical report.
A critical milestone was described: the entire bottom of the pool will be placed as a single continuous concrete pour, scheduled for Jan. 30. The presenter estimated the pour may involve roughly 100 concrete trucks and noted appropriate staging (pump trucks and crews working continuous shifts) to complete what will be a large, multi-hour operation. The therapy pool was prioritized earlier in the schedule to allow focused work on the main pool.
Temporary windows and heating have been installed in the building; interior CMU and metal-stud walls and locker-room floor slabs are in place. Electrical pads and conduits are ready and the district is coordinating transformer delivery with the power company. The presenter said the schedule remains consistent with the August presentation and that contingency funds have not been substantially used.
