Summary
At their Jan. 13 meeting the Buena Vista Board of Trustees appointed Ed Barkowski as town clerk, approved routine consent items and affirmed authorized signers on town bank and investment accounts. Trustees also handled clerical packet corrections and heard community updates.
The Buena Vista Board of Trustees voted Jan. 13 to appoint Ed Barkowski as town clerk, approving Resolution No. 5 to fill the post until the board meeting following the November election. The motion was moved and seconded and carried by the board.
The action followed public comments that included support for the appointment. Paul Andrews told trustees he had known Ed for nearly three years and urged the board to make the appointment, saying Barkowski is “incredibly hardworking, he’s trustworthy” and suited for the job.
Trustees also approved routine consent items, including minutes, advisory-board appointments and departmental reports. The board adopted Resolution No. 6 to affirm who is authorized to sign on town bank accounts, credit cards and investments; the policy retains two-signature controls, requiring either the mayor or mayor pro tem plus either the town clerk or town administrator.
A minor clerical correction to the meeting packet also passed: trustees approved updating the spelling of Jana Schumann’s name on page 76. Trustees noted the approvals were procedural and intended to maintain continuity in town administration.
The meeting packet and staff materials listed the appointments that were included in the consent agenda. The board then moved on to presentations and other business items on the agenda.
