The Russell County School Board completed its annual reorganization at Tuesday's meeting, electing Cynthia Compton as board chair and Bob Gibson as vice chair. Nominations for chair included Christie Perkins and Cynthia Compton; the board voted by hand and confirmed Compton as chair.
The board also approved Brooklyn Webb as the school board clerk and selected Nick Compton to serve as board attorney. Trustees reaffirmed that the board will use Roberts Rules of Order as its parliamentary procedure and kept the regular meeting schedule (first Tuesday of each month, with post‑executive session time noted).
The superintendent opened nominations and facilitated the election process; newly elected chair Cynthia Compton presided over subsequent items for the rest of the meeting.
