Roseville Community Coalition describes youth prevention work and Rose Youth Coalition

Nina Olszewski, a Macomb County preventionist with CARE of Southeastern Michigan, presented the Roseville Community Coalition’s mission and recent activities to the council on Jan. 13. "We bring diverse voices together to address issues in a collaborative manner," Olszewski said, describing the coalition as a voluntary collaboration of schools, public safety, health professionals, parents and youth serving organizations.
Olszewski detailed the Rose Youth Coalition launched last year at Roseville High School, which meets twice monthly, engages roughly 30 students and runs prevention activities, mentorship and monthly themed lunch tables in the high‑school cafeteria. She said the coalition partners with Roseville School District staff and community organizations to offer prevention programming and alternatives to substance use for youth.
Olszewski also described meeting logistics: general coalition meetings currently occur virtually via Zoom, with the next meeting listed as Feb. 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., and a tentative in‑person meeting planned for March at 5:00 p.m. She invited council members and residents to contact CARE for more information or to attend the coalition’s meetings.
Council members thanked Olszewski and school partners for their work and noted strong student engagement. The mayor and council encouraged continued collaboration between the coalition and the school district.
