County staff told the Madison County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 1 that households inside the Phase 1 broadband project area may now sign up for Internet service and that most installed passes are complete. The county said the project extends northeast toward the county line and that Comcast is the service provider handling sign-ups and final hookups.
A construction manager told the board there may be "a house or two" missed in the as-built work; residents who do not see service available are asked to contact county staff or the main project number so the county can coordinate with Comcast to complete the connection. County staff said cleanup of some stray cable is still underway but that residents can begin service while minor cleanup continues.
Board members praised the county’s multi-year leadership on broadband implementation and noted the roughly $100 million of infrastructure work the county has advanced this year across various projects. No formal vote was required for the update; staff provided contact guidance for residents seeking service.
