Planning commission continues Box Creek gravel-mining permit hearing to Sept. 8
Summary
Staff asked for more time to coordinate traffic and safety analysis with CDOT and county consultants; the commission voted to continue the Box Creek gravel-mining conditional-use-permit (file 24-03) to Sept. 8 at 4 p.m.
Lake County planning staff asked the planning commission on Aug. 11 to continue consideration of a conditional-use permit for a proposed gravel-mining operation at 450 County Road 24A so the county and the applicant can further address a safety analysis at the intersection of County Road 10 and County Road 24.
"Staff is working with CDOT, the county's traffic consultants (Kimberly Horn), and the applicant to address results of the safety analysis," a staff speaker said, recommending a continuance to allow additional work. Commissioner Joey Edwards moved to continue the file to Sept. 8 at 4 p.m.; the motion was seconded, the correct file number was confirmed as 24-03, and the continuance passed by voice vote.
The continuation preserves the county's ability to receive additional technical analysis and updated recommendations before the planning commission and any joint board consideration. No public testimony was taken at the Aug. 11 meeting because the item was formally continued.
