Northglenn Council swears in new members, unanimously elects Shannon Lukman Hiramasa as mayor pro tem

Judge Brian Bowen administered the oath of office for newly elected council members. Council elect Lighty (transcript spelling) and Joshua D. Sievers were sworn in; Sievers thanked family, volunteers and supporters and said, "I plan to serve with honor, courage, and commitment." Council member Kondo and Jody Roper also took the oath and each offered brief remarks thanking supporters and pledging to represent their wards.
With the new council seated, the clerk read the title of Resolution CR 131, "A resolution for the election of the mayor pro tempore of the City of Northglenn, Colorado." A motion was made and seconded; Council member Kondo nominated Shannon Lukman Hiramasa. In accepting the nomination, Hiramasa said, "I promise to continue using this role as mayor pro tem as a platform to elevate our voices on the local, the state, and the federal level." The clerk opened the vote and later announced that CR 131 "passes unanimously."
The mayor invited attendees to a reception in the community rooms to honor outgoing council members and to congratulate the newly elected members; the meeting was then adjourned.
