The Clearlake City Council unanimously approved updates to the city's strategic plan on Dec. 4 after prior workshops and a council retreat.
City Manager Flora summarized work from a council retreat in August and a September workshop, followed by staff and leadership workshops in November to produce an updated plan with six main goal categories (economic development; public facilities and infrastructure; celebrating Clearlake; fiscal sustainability; cleanliness; and safety) and an action plan that assigns responsibilities and timelines.
Council members praised the inclusion of measurable timelines and the elevation of economic development to the top priority. Council Member Downey moved to adopt the updates; Vice Mayor Slotin seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Implementation steps include updating staff report templates to reference the strategic plan, publishing the plan for public access, and tracking action-plan items for future council oversight.
