Charles Charles Smith, speaking for the Canton Lutheran Church restoring‑radiance committee, told the commission the group is in a three‑phase, three‑year project to restore stained‑glass windows, with many of the south windows already completed and the main window currently stored in Minnesota for restoration.
"We are the committee that's involved with restoring the stained glass windows," Smith said, describing the project's progress and the committee's grant support. He said the committee had received a matching grant from the Fund for Sacred Places and that a condition of the grant requires confirming whether the city requires a historic preservation review. Smith reported that city staff indicated no historic review is required.
Smith said the work is largely straightforward and that the committee is proceeding with the steps required by the grant provider. He asked the commission to note the project and the committee's plan to ensure proper steps are followed as restoration phases continue.
The commission acknowledged the update and recorded the committee's request that any required administrative steps be confirmed; no formal action was taken on the matter during the meeting.
