Broomfield council unanimously elects Jean Lim as mayor pro tem, adopts 2026 meeting calendar

"I proudly nominate Council member Jean Lim," Council member Henkel said during the nomination. After council members cast electronic ballots, the clerk announced that the vote "passes unanimously." The mayor then confirmed the result.
The council also approved Resolution 2025‑156 to reschedule certain 2026 meetings and add a small number of study sessions. Staff presented the calendar changes and the reasons behind them: rescheduling the June 23 meeting because of the Colorado Municipal League annual conference; canceling the Nov. 24 meeting for Thanksgiving; canceling a Dec. 15 study session and moving the Dec. 22 meeting to Dec. 1; and adding focused study sessions and meetings including a Feb. 6–7 focus session, a March 3 meeting for boards and commission appointments, a May 7 study session for unaudited 2025 financial results and early 2026 revenue trends, a virtual Aug. 3 meeting for board-of-equalization officer recommendations, and Sept. 17 and Sept. 24 budget study sessions.
Miss Clemens, who walked the council through the calendar, said staff would return any additional requested adjustments and that the changes were meant to maintain charter-required meeting frequency while accommodating holidays and conferences. Council member Henkel moved approval of the resolution; Council member Wynne seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously.
The meeting packet included other routine business on the consent agenda; the council approved minutes from the Nov. 18, 2025 meeting by unanimous vote earlier in the agenda.
The mayor noted that council offers remote participation for members who must travel or have conflicts and said staff will use that option to keep meetings accessible.
The council did not set any new policy during the meeting beyond adoption of the calendar and the internal leadership selection. The mayor pro tem position confers the duties of presiding in the mayor's absence but does not provide a tie‑breaking vote or veto authority, as the mayor explained during the election process.
