Everett Council authorizes three settlements and adopts several ordinances

The Everett City Council took several formal actions on Jan. 14, passing motions by roll call and authorizing settlements that city staff said were employment-related.
After an executive session on litigation and employment matters, the council approved three settlement authorizations that city staff described as employment‑related: a $75,000 settlement for a claim by former bus operator Teresa Harrod; a workers' compensation settlement for Fire Captain Barry Pomeroy in the amount of $95,160; and a workers' compensation settlement for firefighter Elliott Ward in the amount of $350,200. Motions were made and seconded; the clerk recorded affirmative roll-call votes from the council members present.
The council approved three consent agenda items in a single vote and took final readings on three ordinances: a special improvement project for pedestrian safety (RRFB, Everett Avenue and 79th Place SE) (council bill 2512-88); an amendment concerning Walter E. Hall Park Community Connection (council bill 2512-89); and a special improvement project for I‑5/US‑2 ramp improvements (council bill listed in the record). Each ordinance motion was moved, seconded and recorded as approved by council members present.
Clerk roll calls show affirmative responses from the councilmembers who participated in each vote; one councilmember was recorded as excused earlier in the meeting.
