Public commenters raise workers’ compensation concerns and allege ICE misconduct in Everett

Steve Ose, a local resident, described a community donation effort that delivered 3,524 items (estimated value $33,563), $1,895 in cash and 10,115 pounds of food to Volunteers of America for distribution. He also raised a personnel and workers’ compensation concern: Ose said some city employees who were injured received poor medical care from the city’s third-party administrator (identified in his remarks as CorVel), and he said long-term staff had been forced out after substandard treatment. "We're having very bad medical treatment for my coworkers and your employees," Ose said, and he asked the council to follow up.
Liz Voguely told the council she believes an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Goode in Minneapolis and said community documentation and legal observers were critical at the scene. She asserted that ICE has "already disappeared people here in Everett" and named a person she said was affected (Daniel Carlos Morales). "The city needs to be prepared to arrest ICE agents who break the law," she said, adding she was asking the council to think about how Everett would impede unlawful actions by ICE agents.
City staff and council did not provide immediate operational responses to the requests during the public-comment portion; the meeting moved on to scheduled agenda items. The comments were recorded for the official city record.
