Board appoints Amy Barrett to fill two-year vacancy; swearing-in scheduled for February

After an executive session to discuss the employment of public employees and officials, the board returned to public session and moved to appoint Amy Barrett to fill a two-year unexpired term on the board. The motion was seconded and confirmed by roll call; the appointee was not present at the meeting due to a funeral and will be sworn in at the February board meeting.

Board members said they appreciated the large applicant pool (the chair said 25 applicants applied) and noted the board’s discussion of candidates in executive session. The new appointee will begin participating in communications immediately but will be ceremonially sworn in at the February meeting.

The meeting adjourned after the appointment and a final roll-call vote to close the session.
