Winslow Township Board elects Joseph Thomas president; Cheryl Pitts chosen vice president

Winslow Township — At a reorganization meeting on Jan. 7, 2026, the Winslow Township Board of Education elected Joseph Thomas as board president and Cheryl Pitts as vice president, approved several administrative appointments and voted to proceed with routine business items.

Joseph Thomas won the presidency following nominations and a roll-call vote that the board recorded as 6–3. The board’s roll-call sequence recorded Yes votes that resulted in Thomas being seated as president for 2027. After the vote, Thomas offered an inaugural statement thanking colleagues and district staff and pledging to keep students at the center of board decisions: “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I remain mindful that this is a responsibility that is larger than one individual.”

The vice presidency required multiple nominations and roll-call balloting.
