Silver Creek hires new football and boys soccer coaches; board approves personnel changes and consent agenda

The Silver Creek School Corporation board approved multiple personnel actions and consent-agenda items, including hiring two varsity coaches and several position-control updates.

The board approved the recommendation to hire Steven (Steve) Stanley as varsity head football coach with an effective start date revised in the emergency agenda to Jan. 13, 2026. A statement from Stanley read by administration said, in part, "It is an honor and a privilege to become the head football coach for the Silver Creek Dragon football program... We promise to give our all to this program, this school, and to the community." The motion to approve his hire carried by voice vote, 5-0.

The board also approved hiring Blake Hannon as the varsity head boys soccer coach effective Jan. 12, 2026. Hannon addressed the board to thank the hiring team and outlined coaching goals to emphasize player development and bring a sectional title back to Sellersburg.

Administrators presented emergency agenda revisions that amended personnel position-control items: renaming the director of health services position to 'corporation nurse' (position control number 11003) effective 01/12/2026, changing an LPN from part-time to full-time (position control number 61015) effective 01/06/2026, and changing an intensive intervention assistant position control number to 61017 effective 01/12/2026. The agenda also added an overnight field trip for Silver Creek High School to attend the IMEA Honor Band Conference in Fort Wayne and updated a recommended start date for Steven Stanley from Feb. 2 to Jan. 13, 2026. The emergency revisions and consent agenda were approved by the board.

Board members asked clarifying questions about splitting teacher-leadership positions; administration said the splits reflect large grade-level teams sharing leadership duties across multiple staff members. All personnel and consent items were approved by voice vote, 5-0.
