Councilor Infante was nominated, accepted the nomination and was elected chair. Councilor Anna Levy was elected vice chair after a separate nomination and roll‑call vote. Both positions are for two‑year terms.
In remarks after the vote, Chair Infante said the committee’s responsibility is to ‘‘be the stewards of the public’s interest,’’ stressing that members should prioritize merit over personal or political loyalties when reviewing appointments and personnel matters. Infante noted the committee will face difficult situations where ‘‘political pressure or personal loyalties may attempt to cloud our judgment,’’ and urged colleagues to ask ‘‘the hard questions’’ and act with dignity.
There were no formal motions beyond the elections. The Personnel Committee adjourned after the chair’s remarks.
