The Town of Hubbardston Select Board on Monday accepted the resignation of Lauren Wright as the town veteran affairs representative, effective Jan. 1, 2026, and approved a short-term personnel appointment to cover treasury duties.
Chair introduced Wright’s written resignation and told the board she had sent a letter. After a motion and second, the board voted to accept the resignation as presented.
The board then moved to appoint Sarah Risch, the town’s former assistant treasurer collector, as a temporary assistant treasurer collector. Risch proposed limited hours—Tuesdays from about 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., occasional Saturday mornings and one training evening—at her then-current pay rate. Board members negotiated a cap of up to 10 hours per week. A motion to appoint Risch until Jan. 31, 2026, or until a replacement starts (whichever is sooner), at her current rate and up to 10 hours per week was made, seconded and passed.
Board members discussed the search for a permanent assistant treasurer collector and said first-round interviews were ongoing; a follow-up update on hiring is expected at the next meeting. No vote totals were recorded on the public transcript for either action; the board recorded the motions as passed.
