Mister Peterson presented the Sawyer County Forest (SCF) annual work plan to the board, outlining timber-harvest targets and recreation maintenance priorities.
Peterson said the department typically targets about 3,500 acres of timber sales and offers roughly 40 sales totaling an estimated 50,000 cords and 1.5 million board feet. On revenue, the presentation projected timber-sale receipts of about $2,000,000 for the coming year while noting market and weather factors could change outcomes.
Supervisor Buckles moved to approve the 2026 SCF annual work plan; Supervisor Kerian seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
The work plan also highlighted scheduled rehabs of ATV trails, partnerships with local recreation groups and continuing efforts to market carbon credits; staff said some first-quarter action on carbon credits may occur.
Ending: The board approved the work plan and staff will proceed with scheduled sales, trail rehabs and carbon-credit follow-ups in 2026.
