On Jan. 13 the Canton Township Board approved the addition of a social media and marketing coordinator position to the nonunion classified employee wage scale at grade 2‑10.
Clerk Siegrist and trustees said the position will centralize township messaging across platforms and improve timely communications to residents, businesses and youth. The presentation cited national social‑media usage statistics and township demographic data to support the hiring rationale.
The communications manager Kristen Thomas said the position will foster engagement and work with the Youth Advisory Council. Clerk Siegrist said the position was budgeted for 2026 and will be offset by eliminating a part‑time role.
The motion passed on a voice vote.
