Committee hears report that county health-insurance costs are trending higher, near $2.1 million

Davis said the county is "trending kind of higher" and estimated spending near $2.1 million. Committee members asked whether the trend is a one-year spike or likely to continue; Davis and others said they expect the higher trend to persist into next year due to rising rates and claims.
David Larson, in human-resources risk management, noted reporting lags for fiscal-year data and said he expects to have more complete numbers in the next month. Committee members also raised safety concerns tied to winter weather and slip-and-fall incidents and encouraged caution and proactive snow/ice clearing around county facilities.
There was no formal action on the insurance report; staff said the invoice is on file and available in the packet.
