The School City of Mishawaka Board of School Trustees completed its annual reorganization on Jan. 14, administering the oath of office to David M. Weber and selecting its 2026 officers. David M. Weber recited the oath pledging to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of Indiana and to uphold board member ethics.
Board members nominated and elected Angela Layman as board president and Melissa Johnson as vice president. The board also approved David M. Weber to serve as board secretary. Each leadership motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the reorganizational meeting and accompanying regular session.
The board then appointed leaders for its Board of Finance: David M. Weber was named president of the Board of Finance and Angela Layman was approved as secretary for that body. Those appointments were approved by voice vote.
With officers in place, the board proceeded to routine reorganizational housekeeping, including announcing committee assignments would remain unchanged for 2026. No controversies or roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting minutes for these elections.
The board closed the special meeting and continued with the regular Jan. 14 agenda.
