City manager schedules SASSA animal-services workshop amid shelter concerns

The Hughson City Manager told the council on Jan. 12 that the SASSA animal services joint-powers authority will hold a public strategic-plan workshop Friday, Jan. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
‘‘Our next meeting for SASSA, which is our animal services JPA meeting, is going to be on January 15,’’ the City Manager said, describing the session as an open public meeting and the planned strategic-plan workshop. ‘‘We are aware that there’ll be a higher attendance rating due to the articles that are being posted and people's concerns with the animal shelter,’’ the manager added, and said staff will keep the council informed as the item moves forward.
The City Manager also reported attending the first STANCOG management and finance committee meeting of the year and said the regional body remains under an interim executive director as it continues the recruitment process. The Community Development director noted that documentation for a project will be routed through public works and appear on a future council agenda. The City Clerk reminded council members about annual FPPC filing requirements.
No formal action was taken on the SASSA item at the Jan. 12 meeting; staff presented the meeting date and asked the public to attend the Jan. 15 workshop for stakeholder input.
Votes at a glance: the council approved the consent calendar (motion moved and seconded; roll-call ayes recorded) and later adjourned by unanimous voice vote.
