The Coconino County bookmobile program will expand outreach and update its vehicle, the board heard.
Becca, the county bookmobile librarian, described routes that reach remote communities, schools and Navajo Nation chapter houses and said she secured a $2,000 grant to add bilingual board books for young readers. “I was able to secure a $2,000 grant to fund new kids books to expand that collection,” she said.
Becca said the current bookmobile circulates about 3,800 items and serves roughly 30–40 stops per month depending on seasonal schedules; the service partners with schools, chapter houses and local groups for donations and events. She also told the board the county has ordered a new bookmobile — a 2027 Freightliner about 24 feet long — and expects an estimated eight to nine months for delivery once production begins. Staff described vehicle interior features: two entrances/exits, an internal ADA ramp and shelving capacity staff estimated at roughly 1,782 items.
The board played a short KJZZ feature on the program and members thanked Becca for outreach to remote areas. The bookmobile updates were presented as part of the board’s broader discussion of county branch services and outreach.
