Lyon County Planning Commission elects officers, approves minutes

At the Jan. 13 meeting the Lyon County Planning Commission elected Shannon Sarasola as chair and Nate Mar Jones as vice chair for terms expiring Jan. 12, 2027. The commission also elected a secretary for the same term. Nominations were made from the floor, accepted and approved by voice votes.
Commissioners reviewed the Dec. 9, 2025 minutes and proposed multiple corrections including typos, paragraph attributions and a request to bold motions and seconds to improve readability. A motion to approve the minutes with those corrections was made and approved by voice vote.
During commissioner comments members discussed the minutes process; Community Development staff explained they check recordings and will insert verbatim text for motions while summarizing other discussion to avoid adding subjectivity.
