Summary
Council signaled consensus to appoint Council Member Tomicoff to a city committee, heard introductory remarks from the newly selected city manager, and approved a motion to convene an executive session at the close of the workshop.
Near the end of the Jan. 13 workshop staff noted expiring terms on the Government Services Committee and presented reappointment and appointment recommendations. Council indicated consensus to appoint Council Member Tomicoff to a scheduled vacancy and to consider reappointments for two current members whose terms were ending.
Intergovernmental Programs Director Jenna Carico reminded the council that vice‑mayor nominations would be formalized at the evening voting meeting and solicited nominations; later in the workshop Council Member Molnar (transcript spelling variant) and another member indicated they would nominate candidates at the voting session.
The council also heard introductory comments from the new city manager, who thanked council for the selection, said he planned to meet department directors and tour city facilities and districts, and expressed eagerness to engage community stakeholders. Before adjournment, the council moved and seconded a motion to convene into executive session; the motion passed on a voice vote (the chair called for 'aye' and the council responded 'Aye').
No substantive policy votes were taken in the executive session at this workshop; the public workshop adjourned to the closed session per the council motion.
