Board hears public‑records update, sends technology policy to February consent agenda; enters closed session, approves HR report
Summary
Trustees were told 19 public‑records requests were handled since August (one outstanding), heard a first reading of the technology responsible‑use policy to move to the February consent agenda, approved Human Resources Report No. 7, and entered closed session under state statute before returning with no action taken.
At the Jan. 27 work session the Craven County Board of Education received updates on public records, a first reading of a technology responsible‑use policy and personnel matters.
Miss Wagner told trustees the district received 19 public records requests since her last report in August; 18 have been fulfilled and one remains outstanding (a request for purchase orders covering a specified timeframe). She said fulfilled requests are shared with the board.
Policy 32254312/7320 regarding technology responsible use was presented for first reading with no substantive questions; the chair said the recommended revisions will move to the February consent agenda.
The board next entered closed session under North Carolina General Statute 143‑318.11(a)(3) and (a)(6) to consult with counsel and to consider the qualifications or performance of a public officer or prospective public officer. Trustees voted 7–0 to enter closed session and returned with no action taken.
Before the closed session trustees considered Human Resources Report No. 7 (with one change) from Dr. Boone. Miss Dacey moved to approve the report and Miss Spies seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
